Why Harold Camping’s May 21 Predictions Failed
Everyone knows by now that the Rapture did not take place on May 21, 2011. The day came and went without any serious cataclysms like a great earthquake wreaking havoc across every time zone.
The San Francisco Chronicle managed to contact Harold Camping, the man behind the May 21, 2011 hype, on Sunday. Camping told the Chronicle that he was “flabbergasted” that the Rapture did not take place on May 21. In addition, Camping told the Chronicle that he was looking for answers, which for him means “frequent prayer and consultations with friends”. Several other media outlets report that many followers of Camping are also confused about why the Rapture did not take place on May 21 and are searching for answers.
Today I want to provide an overview of why Harold Camping failed to make accurate predictions concerning May 21.
- The main reason I believe it is important to write an article about why Camping’s predictions concerning May 21 failed is that there are likely going to be a lot of people looking for answers about why Camping’s prediction failed, particularly the followers of Camping.
- I also believe it is important to write this article to refute the notion that what happened on May 21 invalidates the Bible and Bible prophecy.
He Failed to Take the Bible at Face Value
Perhaps the main reason why Camping was wrong is that he failed to take the Bible at face value. In my critique of Camping’s May 21 prediction concerning the Rapture I highlighted several areas where his teachings violated what is found in the Bible, including his teaching of a 23 year long great tribulation spanning from 1988 to 2011.
- The two ways I can envision someone coming up with the idea of a 23 year long great tribulation spanning from 1988 to 2011 is to ignore the details concerning the great tribulation provided in the Bible or to not take the verses concerning the great tribulation at face value. Matthew 24:15-21 is clear that the abomination of desolation spoken of in Daniel (Daniel 9:27) must be established before the great tribulation begins:
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. | Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
|
- Matthew 24:15 suggests that the establishment of the abomination of desolation is an event that people would see. Daniel 9:27 relates the establishment of the abomination of desolation to the end of (temple) sacrifice. Clearly, we on Earth did not see the end of temple sacrifice in 1988 as there was no Third Temple yet (in fact, we are still awaiting the establishment of the Third Temple).
He Took Bible Verses Out of Context
Camping also failed to consider the textual context of the Bible prophecy verses he cited. The most notable example surrounds Camping's great earthquake prediction.
- As I mentioned before, Camping cited the great earthquake mentioned in Revelation 16:18 to support his great earthquake prediction on May 21. Revelation 16:18 was taken completely out of context as Camping failed to consider that there are many events that still need to take place before that great earthquake comes. For instance, the kings of earth need to gather for the Battle of Armageddon (an event associated with the pouring of the sixth vial judgment-Revelation 16:12-16) before the great earthquake in Revelation 16:18 (an event associated with the pouring of the seventh vial judgment) can take place.
He Read Things that Were Never There
Camping relied on a very subjective interpretation style that sought to extract "hidden meaning" from the biblical text. Camping would subjectively assign symbolic meaning to numbers and interpret Bible verses in an allegorical manner.
While I read Camping’s work in preparation to write my critique of his May 21 Rapture prediction I noticed that he extracted meaning from Bible verses which made no sense to me when I took those same verses at face value. At some points it almost seemed like Camping was making up stuff to suit his purposes, especially when it came to how he discussed numbers and the supposed significance behind those numbers.
- For instance, Camping saw the number 5 representing “atonement”, the number 10 representing “completeness”, and the number 17 representing “Heaven”. Somehow Camping felt compelled to utilize a series of mathematical calculations to come up May 21 using these numbers-whose respective significance was determined by Camping. There were no instructions in the Bible to perform the calculations Camping performed to come up with May 21.
- Camping's analysis of the seven days in Genesis 7:4 is an example of how he extracted meaning from Bible verses that made no sense to me when I took those same verses at face value. When I read Genesis 7:4 at face value I conclude that God told Noah that He would begin the flood in seven days. However, Camping concluded that there was also a hidden, spiritual message in Genesis 7:4 warning that God would destroy the world in 7000 years, which in Camping’s mind coincided with May 21, 2011. Camping read something in Genesis 7:4 that simply was not there.
He Set a Date and Hour
Many of the Christians who voiced skepticism with Camping’s May 21 Rapture prediction cited Matthew 24:36 where Christ stated that no one except the Father knows the day and hour.
- Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Camping challenged this verse as much as one possibly can by not only naming a date for the Rapture but also the hour when he thought the Rapture would take place: May 21, 2011 at 6 P.M.
Conclusion
The May 21 hype is thankfully over. Camping’s failure should be a lesson to take the Bible at face value, to not ignore the textual context of the Bible verses you cite or use to build an argument, and to avoid reading things in a Bible verse which are not actually there.
Appendix: A Message to Camping Supporters
This message is targeted to anyone who believed in Camping's predictions concerning May 21...
I understand you may be enduring a very tough time right now. You probably made a significant emotional and perhaps even a significant financial investment in May 21. You are probably trying to reconcile the notion that the Bible is inerrant with the fact that the Rapture did not take place on May 21.
Please understand that the Bible did not fail you. Camping failed you. The Word of God did not fail you. A man failed you. The Bible never guaranteed that the Rapture was going to take place on May 21, 2011 or that a great earthquake would impact every time zone on May 21. Camping guaranteed these things and was wrong. His teachings concerning May 21 were unbiblical and the non-events of May 21 demonstrated that.
Please also understand that you are not rejecting biblical authority by rejecting Camping. Biblical authority and Camping authority are not the same thing. The Bible is not wrong. Camping is wrong. Camping is among many people in history who predicted the end of the world on a certain date and failed. Camping is distinguished because he's recently failed to predict the end of the world twice (1994 and 2011). Camping's failure should be a signal to you that his approach to biblical understanding is flawed.

A Detail Map Showing the Israeli Settlements Located in the West Bank
After posting a map showing what Israel's borders could possibly look like if Barack Obama’s vision for a Palestinian state were to become reality, I thought it would be useful to provide a link to a map showing where Israeli settlements are located within the territory that Obama wants the Palestinians to have.
The Wall Street Journal’s website today displayed an excellent map of the Israeli settlements located within the boundaries of the West Bank, which Israel gained control of after the Six Day War in 1967. The map shows the pre-1967 boundaries that Obama wants Israel to return to and the location of virtually all the Israeli settlements that are located within the territory that Obama wants the Palestinians to have.
- You can view the map at the following link
You will probably notice that there are several dozen settlements and outposts located throughout the West Bank when you view the map. I searched for the most up-to-date statistics concerning the total number of Israelis living in settlements in the West Bank. Unfortunately, I could only locate detail data from an article published in fall 2009. Nevertheless, the available statistics demonstrate that there is a sizeable population of Israelis living in settlements in the West Bank.
- Over 300,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank. If we assume the Israeli settler population of the West Bank remained constant at just 300,000 through today, it would make up approximately 3.9% of Israel’s total population (7.7 million).
- According to an article from fall 2010, another 200,00 Israelis live in East Jerusalem, which Israel gained control of in 1967’s Six Day War.
I included statements in my previous article from a former British Lord Chancellor and former U.S. President Ronald Reagan which demonstrate why Israel would be in a difficult security situation if they returned to its pre-1967 borders. Today’s information suggests that Israel could also potentially face a population relocation issue if it were to return to its pre-1967 borders.
- Obama suggested that Israel and the Palestinians could engage in land-swap deals so that Israel could potentially maintain some of its settlements in the West Bank. However, it’s difficult to imagine Israeli settlers wanting to live in a Palestinian-controlled state. In addition, it is unlikely that Israel would be able to retain a large number of settlements in the West Bank since many of them are located far from its pre-1967 borders. The best Israel could perhaps realistically do is to maintain some of its larger settlements located near its pre-1967 boundaries.
- Israel would be a very small country (significantly smaller than it is now) if it were to return to its pre-1967 borders. Consequently, it would be challenging for Israel to relocate potentially several hundred thousand people from the West Bank and East Jerusalem into its reduced territory.
It’s disconcerting to see Barack Obama call for Israel to return to its pre-1967 borders when a return to these borders would cause a lot of major problems for Israel. I can understand why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is very unhappy with Barack Obama…

What Israel's Borders Might Look Like If Obama's Vision for a Palestinian State Turns Into Reality
The big news today is that Barack Obama is endorsing the creation of a Palestinian state based on the borders that existed before the 1967 Six Day War. Obama’s call to set Israel’s boundaries back to the boundaries that existed before 1967 in order to create a Palestinian state has already been rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who described the borders as “not defensible”.
I thought it would be useful today to post a map of what Israel looked like before the Six Day War in 1967 to illustrate what Israel could look like if Obama’s plan is enacted.
Pre-1967 Israel
The following map of Israel before the Six Day War is from a website called Information Regarding Israel’s Security: Link The area highlighted in green is essentially what Israel could look like if it returned to its pre-1967 borders:
Pre-1967 Israel had control of much less territory than it has today. Israel did not possess control of the West Bank, the Golan Heights, nor all of Jerusalem before the Six Day War. In addition, Israel’s territory at some areas was less than 10 miles in width (see Netanya on the map).
The following passage is from a memorandum that former Lord Chancellor Viscount Hailsham wrote to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher about how the pre-1967 borders had put Israel in a difficult security situation:
Former U.S. President Ronald Regan also recognized the security challenge that Israel faced with its pre-1967 boundaries. He once proclaimed:
These statements perhaps provide some idea of why Netanyahu characterized the pre-1967 boundaries as "non defensible"...
Obama’s announcement comes a day before Netanyahu meets him at the White House. I imagine the meeting between Netanyahu and Obama is going to be a tense one…

Why Every Bible Prophecy Verse and Chapter Should Matter
There are a variety of viewpoints out there about when the Rapture will take place in context of the End Times. Many people believe it’ll take place prior to the start or at the start of the End Times while others believe it’ll take place sometime during the End Times. Regardless of whether you are a believer in the Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, Pre-Wrath, or Post-Trib Rapture, I believe it is beneficial for you to try to gain a full understanding of the Book of Revelation and Bible prophecy even if some parts of Bible prophecy may not seem fully relevant to you.
In this article I discuss some important reasons why a person should try to learn as much about Bible prophecy as they can-even if some parts of Bible prophecy may not seem fully relevant to them.
A person who truly wants to understand prophecies about the End Times and/or prophecies about the period before the start of the End Times should try to understand all of the prophecies in the Bible because each prophecy verse is a piece of the puzzle.
- You cannot put a complete puzzle together if you do not attempt to put all the pieces together. Similarly, you will be unable to gain a complete understanding of what is going to happen in the End Times or perhaps even in the period before the start of the End Times if you do not consider every piece of information available.
By being unconcerned with certain prophecies you also run the risk of developing a misunderstanding of when events will take place. For instance, many people focus on Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39 and believe that Ezekiel 38 and/or Ezekiel 39 could be an event which begins before or at the start of the tribulation (the seven year time period I prefer to call the seventieth week of Daniel). If people ignore the prophecies in the Book of Revelation and the prophecies concerning the Millennium in the Old Testament they are unlikely going to consider the possibility that parts of Ezekiel 38 and/or Ezekiel 39 might actually be related to the invasion at the end of the Millennium mentioned in Revelation 20:7-9 instead of an invasion before the start or at the start of the seventieth week of Daniel:
- Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
- Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
- Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
I am not saying that Ezekiel 38 and/or Ezekiel 39 apply to the Millennium, but it’s one of the possibilities I’m considering. There is a reason why Gog and Magog are mentioned in Revelation 20, so it’s not something a person should ignore when trying to figure out the timing of Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39.
- Therefore, a person should attempt to gain as much knowledge as possible so they can figure out which prophesized events are completely relevant to them (and which events are not as relevant to them) and figure out when these events will happen.
You can strengthen your defenses against false teachings by learning more about Bible prophecy. The more Bible prophecy you understand the easier it will become for you to identify when you are confronted with false teachings about the End Times and/or the time period before the End Times. The failure to identify a false teaching can be costly-not only spiritually, but also financially and personally. For instance:
- A New York man recently spent his entire lifesavings-$140,000-to buy advertisements to promote May 21. Link
- A New Jersey businessman has been unable to speak with his wife for several months because of his strong belief in May 21. Link
- One of the sons of the New Jersey businessman recently broke up with his girlfriend who he planned to buy an engagement ring for because she did not believe in May 21 like him. Link
If these individuals had taken time to learn what is actually found in Bible prophecy they could have avoided the financial and/or personal loss they’ve endured so far and might endure after May 21.
- My critique of the May 21 speculation can be found at this link
Finally, it is useful for a person to understand as much Bible prophecy as possible just in case they end up having to deal with hardship and persecution. I know there are a significant number of people who believe they will not have to endure hardship and persecution in the future, but the costs of being unprepared for the possibility of being wrong is too high in my opinion.
- If you are unprepared for the worst possible scenarios you risk facing a situation where you may become susceptible to listening to false teachers and false prophets who promise to “help” guide you through difficult times that you may not have expected to face. Recall, the Bible warns that there will be many false prophets who will deceive many prior to the return of Christ (Matthew 24:23-24).
- A good level of understanding of Bible prophecy may enhance your ability to cope in a time of hardship and persecution since you will have a better understanding/awareness of the dangers you face than someone with no understanding.
I hope this article illustrates why it is useful to learn as much about Bible prophecy as you can even if it seems some chapters are not completely relevant to you. The article I wrote yesterday concerning the parallels between Isaiah 13 and Jeremiah 50 may not seem too relevant to you, but these chapters are pieces of the puzzle. I hope to show in the coming days and weeks how understanding these chapters may help to bring further understanding about the placement of Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39.
How the Religious Right Rebranded Planned Parenthood
"Over six million searches for “abortion” and related phrases are typed into search engines every month in America. Online for Life has a novel approach to saving babies: they buy ad space at the top of some of these searches, and direct women to clinics that offer a free ultrasound and pro-life counseling. "This sort of deceptive bait and switch is ethically, and perhaps legally questionable and notice that the word baby is used from the moment sperm meets egg. Although 98% of abortions done in the United States are done in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy when the correct term is embryo not baby, the pro life crowd likes to say " baby" which is kind of like calling an acorn an oak tree. Just imagine what their idea of counseling is when they do get their hands on a young, frightened girl. They claim a 98 % success rate ( based on what I don't know) but I imagine there is a lot of shaming and bullying and pressuring, without much concern for the needs of the girl or the baby once it is born.
But that is not the half of it. What really burns me up is the way they play fast and loose with the facts in totally mis-representing Planned Parenthood, painting it as a money grubbing abortion mill. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here's how Pro Life News paints Planned Parenthood
"The abortion industry is a business, and despite the claims of Planned Parenthood and other such “family planning” clinics, abortion is their biggest money maker. In select US cities, though, a different advertisement floats to the top of the page, and–in contrast with Planned Parenthood–these advertisements are helping to save the lives of the unborn. "Here's the real story. Abortions represent about 3% of what Planned Parenthood does. The organization is, and always has been since its founding by Margaret Sanger in 1895, primarily concerned with preventing unwanted pregnancies by educating women about and providing them with contraceptive options. It has always been about women's health.. It provides free and low cost gynecological services, birth control, testing and treatment for HIV and other STDs, mammograms and tests for cervical cancer among many other things. Moreover, the organization is forbidden by law to use government money to fund abortions. so the notion that Planned Parenthood is part of an " abortion industry" using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions is absolute nonsense.
The rebranding of Planned Parenthood by the religious right has nothing to do with any interest in women's health or in babies for that matter. These same people are all for cutting the WIC program and health care for poor pregnant women as well as pre-school education programs like Head Start. The sanctimonious manipulation of truth is either very cynical or very misguided.
I suppose their justification is that they think they are doing God's work. Well, the Spanish Inquisition felt the same way when they were burning people at the stake to save their souls. Some things never change

The Many Parallels Found in Isaiah 13 and Jeremiah 50
As I have studied several Bible prophecy chapters and verses relating to Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39, I have closely searched for relationships between the chapters and verses under consideration. I often look for specific key words and terms that appear in multiple areas in the Bible in hopes of finding chapters and verses that talk about the same subject manner.
- The more chapters and verses that you can identify which talk about the same subject manner the better. It helps you to better understand what is going to happen in the future with greater detail.
Today I want to share an example of how searching for specific key words and terms in a variety of Bible prophecy chapters and verses can help you to link chapters and verses which potentially talk about the same subject manner. The example I’ll use today is Isaiah 13 and Jeremiah 50.
Isaiah 13 is a prophecy concerning an attack on End Times Babylon during the Day of the Lord, which is a future time period during the End Times.
- Isa 13:1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
…
- Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
- Isa 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
- Isa 13:8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
- Isa 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
I found that Isaiah 13 has several, noticeable parallels with Jeremiah 50, which is also a chapter that describes an attack on Babylon. There are at least a few people, including myself, who believe that Jeremiah 50 may potentially relate to the End Times. The tables below illustrate the apparent connection between these two chapters:
Parallel 1: The target of the attack is Babylon
Isa 13:1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. | Jer 50:9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. Jer 50:10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD. |
Parallel 2: The invasion force consists of many great nations
Jer 50:9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. Jer 50:10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.
| Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
|
Parallel 3: The Lord is backing this military attack
Jer 50:9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrowsshall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. |
Parallel 4: The “weapons of His indignation” to destroy the land (note: the term "weapons of His indignation" only appears in Jeremiah 50:25 and Isaiah 13:5)
Jer 50:25 The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. Jer 50:26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
| Isa 13:2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. Isa 13:3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. Isa 13:5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. |
Parallel 5: Babylon’s overthrow is like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
Isa 13:19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. Isa 13:20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. Isa 13:21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. Isa 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
| Jer 50:39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. Jer 50:40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

The many parallels between Jeremiah 50 and Isaiah 13 and the clear placement of Isaiah 13 as a Day of the Lord prophecy lends credence to the idea that Jeremiah 50 has End Times implications, particularly in the Day of the Lord.
- Whether or not these prophecies apply to a literal Babylon or Babylon the Great mentioned in Revelation 17 and Revelation 18 is something I’m still looking at. I am also still examining which nations comprise this invasion force...
Providing Clarification on My Articles for the Many New Visitors
There recently has been a major increase in the number of new visitors to my blog from the interest in the May 21, 2011 speculation. Many of the new visitors may not have the time to read every single article that I have written, so the possibility exists that some people may get the wrong impression of my viewpoints towards certain subjects concerning Bible prophecy.
Today I want to clarify some things for the many new visitors to the blog who are checking it out for the first time and for those who have recently begun to read my articles.
A reader recently commented in reaction to my critique of the September 23, 2015 Rapture speculation that my blog has a “a tendency to try and debunk other revelations that has been given by God for all of our benefit”. A new visitor reading that comment, my article about the September 23, 2015 Rapture speculation, my articles on the Blood Moon Rapture speculation (Link 1, Link 2, Link 3), and my articles about the May 21, 2011 Rapture speculation might get the wrong impression that I am trying to debunk the idea that there will be a Rapture or every Rapture viewpoint in existence.
I want to make it clear that I am not trying to dispel every Rapture idea in existence. I was asked for my opinion about each of these topics, which are on the minds of a lot of people. I evaluated each of them based on my understanding of Bible prophecy. People may not like my conclusions, but I have to be honest when I see some problems with a specific theory like the May 21, 2011 Rapture theory.
- I don’t believe I would have written about these topics if I was not asked about them. I honestly did not hear about these topics until people mentioned them to me.
I believe that the Rapture will take place in the future. I believe true believers in Jesus Christ will not have to endure the wrath of God (which events constitute the wrath of God is a different topic all together):
- 1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
I believe many of the things that we need to watch for before the Rapture takes place are mentioned in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. From the clues provided in these chapters and others we can perhaps get an idea of the general timeframe when the Rapture can take place within the context of the End Times. However, I do not believe we are in a position to know the exact day and hour of the Rapture like some insist. Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32 are definitive in my opinion that we are not in a position to know the exact timing of the Rapture:
- Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
- Mar 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
I do not believe the world is “ready” yet for the start of the End Times. I believe there are some events that still need to take place before the End Times/seventieth week of Daniel can begin. For instance,
- I believe we may need to see a breakdown in the global economic and financial system to create the political and social instability that could help the Antichrist arise as a person on a “white horse” who “solves” the world’s problems.
- I also believe we may need to also see greater Middle East instability in the future to create the “need” for someone like Antichrist to confirm the “covenant with many” mentioned in Daniel 9:27/the “covenant with death” mentioned in Isaiah 28:15.
I believe the world is in process of becoming more “ready” for the start of the End Times-especially these past several months. However, I believe more still needs to take place before the world is fully “ready”.
- A few weeks ago I published an article where I posed several questions I believe are important to consider when assessing where we are in relations to the start of the End Times/seventieth week of Daniel. If you have not read it, I think it’s good article that will help people reassess where they stand on where we are in relations to the End Times: Link
Recent events in Egypt and Libya got me very interested in the prophecies concerning Libya and Egypt. While studying these prophecies I realized that I needed to also take on the challenge of Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39 since “Libya” is mentioned in Gog’s coalition (Ezekiel 38:5). The Egypt and Libya/Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39 study has transformed into a massive undertaking where I am trying to account for the placement of several dozen Bible prophecy chapters into the End Times timeline.
- Therefore, my efforts in recent weeks have not been to critique various ideas about the Rapture’s timing, but to try to gain further understanding of several of the most challenging Bible prophecy chapters.
I want to end this article by saying that I do not know everything about what is going to happen in the future. Nobody knows everything-even those who sell millions of books and speak at major conferences don’t know everything. Bible prophecy is the biggest puzzle ever created and perhaps the most challenging one to try to piece together. The viewpoints I hold are based on my understanding of the ultimate puzzle so far, which has not been fully-pieced together by anyone yet.
- I’m trying my best to put as many pieces of the puzzle together as I can to help others understand what will take place and to help others in their quest to put the puzzle together also. Hopefully, I can share more of my results soon…
